First right whales spotted off Georgia, Florida’s coast

We spotted our first right whales of the season yesterday! Catalog #3115 and her newborn calf were sighted off Jekyll Island, Georgia on Dec. 10. Later the same day, we sighted Catalog #3317 and her calf off Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. This mother and calf are the first right whales seen off the coast of Florida this winter. Surveys started on Dec. 1, and we will be posting new photos and updates to our Flickr page and other social media channels throughout the 2015-2016 calving season.
